Berks Weekly is a digital news website owned by Hugg Media Group covering the City of Reading and Berks County featuring breaking news, local stories, traffic, weather, and more.
Berks Weekly was created in 2019 soon after the major print newspaper in Reading announced their bankruptcy.
With many community leaders and residents fearing the greater Reading area may lose access to local news reporting, Hugg Media Group co-founders Jason and Ashley Hugg stepped up to build a new digital newspaper focusing on local news and community issues.
Ultimately, the major print newspaper was purchased by a hedge fund and suffered severe cuts to staff and resources.
Today, Berks Weekly reaches over 85,000+ people a month and operates with a small team of dedicated reporters who work directly in the community sourcing news, taking photos/video, and a whole lot more.
